Workshop on Control Systems and Machine Learning

The first edition of the online workshop was met with great interest.

04.02.2022

Over the past week the first LPA Online Workshop on Control Systems and Machine Learning was held online. The more than 160 registrants participated in plenary talks, invited talks and poster sessions covering a wide area of research topics. During the discussion sessions the working groups addressed outstanding issues for implementing data-driven methods in laser-plasma acceleration.

CALA-PULSE PhD student Faran Irshad was invited to present his recent work on Bayesian multi-objective, multi-fidelity optimization and PhD students Lennard Doyle and Nils Weiße presented virtual posters on the TANGO control system in CALA.

The workshop was co-organized by Dr. Andreas Döpp, who leads a newly formed Emmy Noether research group on characterization and control of high-intensity lasers at CALA-PULSE.
